Braddon Breakfast Forum

Inline Images

Thank you for attending the breakfast on Tuesday morning, I hope it will be the first of many. Summarised below are the issues that were raised at the forum along with a list of actions for Canberra CBD

Issues

• Parking
    - Illegal parking in driveways along Mort & Lonsdale streets
   - Lack of parking inspectors to police the illegal parking
   - Need for a master plan regarding the future parking needs of Braddon ie: multi storey car park, car parking in new property developments, more short stay parking which may include angle parking in the middle of Lonsdale street
   - ACTPLA view in the past has been to reduce the need for people to drive their cars to the City
• Security
   - Cropping of trees to allow more visibility
   - Increased lighting in a number of areas
• Cleaning
   - Road sweeping required more often particularly in Autumn
   - Graffiti on sub stations – need a mural
• Marketing
   - Street markets at the weekends
   - Street festivals with entertainment
• Residential developments
   - Braddon development changes – request for more flexibility in minimum parking requirements for redevelopments of small blocks as basements reduce feasability
   - Important that the QIC section 96 remain residential when developed

Action

Canberra CBD Limited to:
• pass on all concerns raised to both ACTPLA and TAMS and provide feedback to property owners in Braddon
• develop specific marketing plan for Braddon that can grow each year
• review the need for additional lighting in Braddon
• review cleaning in the area and potential new mural sites.
